Chandigarh, April 18
UT recorded a veritable corona blast on Sunday with the city reporting as many as 625 fresh cases of coronavirus—the highest recorded for many months on a single day. Chandigarh also logged three more deaths.
With this, the death toll has risen to 413 while the caseload has risen to 33,934. There are as many as 3625 active cases of the pandemic.
According to a media bulletins issued here, a 52-year-old COVID positive Male R/o Sector 24, a case of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Severe Pneumonia, expired at Fortis Hospital, Mohali.
The other fatality was that of a 62-year-old COVID positive Female R/o Sector 29, a case of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension and Coronary Artery Disease, who expired at GMCH 32. In the third case, a 28-year-old COVID positive Female R/o Mauli Jagran, a case of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Acute Kidney Problem, expired at GMSH 16.
New cases of coronavirus hve been reported from different parts of the city and the villages surrounding it.
Meanwhile, a total of 411 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
