Chief Secretary reviews pending cases related to Railways in Punjab

Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua has directed the concerned departments for speedy resolution of the issues related to the construction of new rail link, railway over bridge and under bridge, electrification of the lines and pruning and felling of trees adjacent to the railway lines in terms of safety. Instructions have been given to complete the work within stipulated time.
This directive was issued by the Chief Secretary during high level meeting with the senior officials of the Railways and the Administrative Secretaries of the departments.
The aim of meeting was to connect the people of the state with a better rail network and resolve the pending cases related to the Ministry of Railways in Punjab expeditiously.
Mr. Janjua said that all these matters were discussed in today’s meeting as part of the commitment of the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to ensure a better rail network for the convenience of the people. Directoons were given for timely completion of the Nangal Dam-Talwara-Mukeria, Ferozepur-Patti and Rama Mandi to Sadda Singh Wala via Talwandi Sabo new rail line project. Issues related to land acquisition and compensation were also discussed and the concerned departments were asked to take immediate action regarding the same.
Discussions were held with the railway officials on railway over bridge between Phagwara-Jalandhar Cantt at Dhannowali and Bathinda. Regarding the electrification of railway lines, the approvals related to the electricity department were asked to be given immediately.
On this occasion, the issue of pending approvals of railways during the construction of Kandi Canal and Rajpura-Banur Canal by the state government was raised with the railway officials. Matters related to Bathinda, Hoshiarpur and Pathankot districts were addressed by the Chief Secretary through video conferencing to the Deputy Commissioners who gave on the spot instructions for its solution. He also said that as regards the matters related to any one department, the railway and the concerned department will hold regular meetings to solve them besides reviewing the projects of railway every three months.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Forest Raji P Srivastava, Principal Secretary Home Anurag Verma, Principal Secretary Power Tejveer Singh, Principal Secretary Water Resources and Mining Krishna Kumar, General Manager of Northern Railway Ashutosh Gangal, Principal Chief Engineer Northern Railway Satish Kumar Pandey, Chief Administrative Officer AK Singhal, DRM Ambala G.M.Singh, DRM Ferozepur Seema Sharma, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer Pramod Sharma and Principal Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer Shaminder Singh.
