Ferozepur, July 19, 2020: With extra vigil by the security agencies and relying on tip-off sources, the CIA in association with Border Security Force troops, 8.120 kg heroin was recovered from near Indo-Pak border.
A tip-off was received by the Punjab Police when a police party was patrolling to keep an eye on the suspicious nature persons, that since some known smugglers are having close contacts with their counterparts in Pakistan and they sell the drugs by arranging consignments through Pakistan international border and a huge consignment has been arranged on the night of July 17 between pillar No.217/15 and 217/14. A search operation was carried out in association with the BSF and 8.120 kg heroin in two plastic cans was found.
Balwant Singh, SI CIA staff Ferozepur informed that a case under Section 21/61/85 has been registered at Guruharsahai under NDPS Act against unidentified persons.
However, with the appoint of IO in these cases, in-depth investigations are on with a special focus on backward and forward linkages to crack the back history and put a check on further smuggling, he added.
