Chandigarh, March 18
Chitkara University and B.R. Folk Cultural Club Chandigarh won the Luddi, Girls’ Bhangra and Boys’ Bhangra Cup.
Doraha Bhangra and Ludi Cup was organized by Jugni Cultural and Youth Club S.A.S. Nagar and Virasat-e-Cultural Folk Club Doraha at the Law Auditorium of Punjab University, Chandigarh. 21 teams from North India participated in the Folk Dance Competitions.
Chitkara University won the first position and Lt. Harinder Pal Singh Running Trophy in Luddi while Dagga Bhangra Academy and GNA University jointly won second and Honey Bhangra team and GNC Nakodar secured third place jointly. Similarly, in Girls’ Bhangra, Chitkara University won the first place, Ankhi Mutiyar team won the second place and Udariani Delhi team won the third place. In Boys’ Bhangra, B.R. Folk Cultural Club Chandigarh won the first place, The Retro Club Canada won the second place and Real Folk Art Bhangra Academy Amritsar won the third place. The first, second and third place teams were awarded with trophies and prize money of Rs 51,000, Rs 31,000 and Rs 21,000 respectively.
The prizes were distributed to the winning teams by Neeru Katyal, Director Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Punjab.
Prominent among others who were present at the occasion included Virasat-e-Cultural Folk Club Doraha President Harman Ratan, Vice President Iqbal Singh, General Secretary Harpreet Katani and Jugni Cultural and Youth Club S.A.S. Nagar President State Awardee Davinder Singh Jugni, Senior Vice President Charanjit Singh Channi, Vice President Naresh Kumar, Finance Secretary Rupinder Pal Singh, Joint Secretary Lakhveer Singh, Members Gurmeet Kular, Sukhbir Singh and Sonu.
