Chief Electoral Officer Punjab Dr. S Karuna held a meeting with the representatives of political parties to apprise them about Special Summary Revision -2022.Representatives of all the recognized state and national political parties attended the meeting.
Dr. Raju said that a special campaign for registration, deletion and correction of particulars in voter list. First time young voters who attains 18 years with qualifying date as 01.01.2022, in view of upcoming Assembly Election scheduled to be in first quarter 2022, this exercise will be extensively carried out across the state from district level, to constituency level and to right upto the booth level.
He said door-to-door exercise shall be undertaken by the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) between 09.08.2021 to 31.10.2021 to further intensify the campaign and plug the existing gaps.
Dr. S. Karuna Raju, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer Punjab made a presentation to the representatives of political parties thoroughly explaining about the entire process of summary revision sought their active participation in completion of special summary revision exercise.
He said removal of Demographically Similar Entries (DSEs), multiple entries and logical error shall take place between 09.08.2021 to 31.10.2021. Subsequently, the draft shall be published on 01.11.2021. Period for claims and objections has been kept between 01.11.2021 to 30.11.2021. BLO Special camps shall also be held at all the polling stations on 06.11.2021, 07.11.2021, 20.11.2021 and 21.11.2021.
The CEO, Punjab especially sought participation from al the political parties in enrolling categories such as Transgender, Persons with Disability (PwDs), Overseas and Service Voters. CEO, Punjab also encouraged political parties to identify and appoint Booth Level Agents (BLA) for each polling station who would support the respective BLOs in the revision exercise.
The CEO, Punjab also apprised them about various IT initiatives taken by the ECI. Further, they were given demonstrations of mobile applications such as Voter Helpline App and C-Vigil wich will be used extensively during conduct of election process.
Madhvi Kataria additional Chief Electoral officer, Manjit Singh Gill from All India Trimnool Congress, Ajit Singh Bahini from Bahujan Samaj Party, Arvind Mittal from Bhartiya Janta Party, Bhag Singh from Communist Party of India (Marxist), Jisnesh Kumar, Indian National Congress Party, Arshdeep Singh from Shiromani Akali Dal and Gagandeep Singh Chaddha from Aam Aadmi Party were present in the Meeting.
