CHANDIGARH 16 Oct,2020:The Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday congratulated the Punjab State Red Cross Society for being adjudged the Second best in the country besides having bagged the top position in North India in terms of overall performance.
In his congratulatory message to the Punjab State Red Cross Society and the District Red Cross Societies, the Chief Minister, who is the President of the society, said that the State Red Cross Society under the Chairmanship of the Governor, has been rendering yeoman’s service to the cause of humanity by organizing blood donation camps, Health check up camps and off late making people aware about observing health related protocols in view of Covid-19 pandemic.
Divulging details, the CEO cum Secretary of the State Red Cross Society, C.S. Talwar (IAS Retd.) said that the award, instituted for the first time, for the year 2019-20 were announced by the Union Health Minister, who is the Chairman of the National Headquarters of the Indian Red Cross Society, in a virtual conference held late last Thursday in New Delhi.
Pointing out further, Talwar said that the performance of the Punjab State Red Cross Society was evaluated on the 28 parameters and bagged Rs. 30 lakh prize. The top honour went to Gujarat, revealed Talwar.
