New Delhi, April 25: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accompanied by his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that Punjab would soon modernize the entire school education and health sector on the pattern of Delhi model as promised by the AAP to the people as another guarantee during run up to the assembly polls in the state.
Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of his maiden visit to the state-of-the-art Dr. BR Ambedkar School of Specialized Excellence here at Kalka ji, Bhagwant Mann said that it was all the more important to revamp the existing infrastructure in the core sectors of school education and health as these directly contribute towards the human resource development.
Sharing his first hand impression about this reputed government school, Bhagwant Mann said, “It is really a mind blowing experience to see this prestigious school equipped with world class infrastructure and highly qualified staff to steer the career of young minds through innovative teaching practices”. Highly impressed to see a classroom with paperless teaching where all the students were taking lessons on their laptops. Likewise, he also witnessed another classroom where all the students were engrossed in their studies while some expert was delivering an online lecture to them. Bhagwant Mann said these ultra modern teaching gadgets with advanced skills would also be replicated in the Punjab schools to provide quality education to the students in digital mode.
Pointing out further, Bhagwant Mann said that he was astonished to look at such gigantic infrastructure in this Delhi government school as he had not seen schools of this level earlier in the country except in Canada and United States of America.
Showing deep concern over the trend of students going abroad for higher studies from Punjab, Bhagwant Mann said that he was confident that with the setting of such schools across the state this tendency amongst our youth would be considerably checked.
Emphasizing the need to make our students job providers not seekers, Bhagwant Mann said the Delhi model would be implemented in the letter and spirit which is instrumental in imparting both practical and theoretical education judiciously. Moreover, this school have already forged collaboration with the country’s leading industrial houses, top business management schools and the prestigious institutions of higher learning like ITIs, NIITs and IIMs.
Replying to a query as to when Punjab would establish such schools, Bhagwant Mann said that the state has ample space in rural areas for constructing such schools.
Later, both Bhagwant Mann and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal accompanied by Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Member Rajya Sabha Raghav Chadha also inaugurated the newly constructed swimming pool in Kautilya Government Sarvodhya Bal Vidyalya Chirag Enclave. He also visited the labs equipped with the advanced infrastructure in the school to infuse scientific temper amongst the students. Bhagwant Mann had detailed interaction with the students of both these schools.
Afterwards, Bhagwant Mann visited the Mohalla Clinic at Greater Kailash, Chirag Enclave where he interacted with the doctors, paramedics and patients to have vital inputs regarding the performance of these clinics. Meanwhile, Delhi Health Minister Satinder Jain briefed him about the unique model of Mohalla Clinics which were providing the best healthcare facilities to the residents at their doorsteps.
On the final leg of his daylong visit, Bhagwant Mann during his visit to Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital at Dilshad Garden have a round of Critical Care Unit (CCU) besides interacted with the doctors after the detailed presentation. Both Chief Ministers inaugurated the emergency services wing of the hospital.
Prominent amongst others who accompanied the Chief Minister included Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Vijay Singla, Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Chief Secretary Anirudh Tewari, Additional Chief Secretary to CM A. Venu Prasad, Principal Secretary School Education Alok Shekhar, Principal Resident Commissioner New Delhi Rakhi Bhandari and Health Secretary Ajoy Sharma. Besides, the Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, Director Education Himanshu Gupta and other senior officers of health and education department were also present during the visit.
