Chandigarh, August 6: With the objective of providing Ghar-Ghar Rozgar, the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has sought applications for 2984 posts in the Health & Family Welfare Department till August 31.
Giving details in press communique, the Health & Welfare Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that Punjab Government was fully prepared to effectively tackle the increasing patient load in Government Hospitals due to spread of coronavirus and these recruitments would prove to be a milestone in achieving this goal. He said that under this massive recruitment 500 Medical Officers General, 35 Medical Officers Dental, 139 Radiographers, 200 Multipurpose Health Workers (male), 600 Multipurpose Health Workers (female), 14 ECG technician, 98 Medical Laboratory Technicians Grade-2, 482 Pharmacists (Pharmacy Officer), 116 Operation Theater Assistant and 800 Ward Attendants would be recruited.
He further said that the Punjab Government also gave exemption in upper age limit up to 45 years at the time of recruitment to those employees already working on contract/outsourced basis in different wings/institutions of the Health & Family Welfare Department in line with the similar relaxation of upper age in case of persons already in government service for the purpose of recruitment to service by direct appointment. However, no relaxation will be given in educational qualification.
The Minister added that exemption in the upper age limit up to 45 years has been now allowed to the said employees as they are well-versed with the functioning of the department and excellent services being provided by them during COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it is proposed to give a maximum of 10 marks of experience to these employees under which 1 marks will be given for 1-year experience.
Pertinently, to expedite the process of filling up the vacancies of doctors, paramedical and other staff, the Punjab Government has been recruiting these vacancies through Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot instead of Punjab Public Service Commission and Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board. The decision to fill these posts through Baba Farid University has been taken in view of the needs of COVID-19 whereas earlier recruitment of Group A and B is done by Punjab Public Service Commission and recruitment of Group C and D is done by Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board.
