Patiala, April 9:
In a significant step under the Punjab Sikhya Kranti, 67 development projects amounting to Rs. 5 crore were dedicated to the students across 28 government schools in Patiala district. These initiatives, undertaken under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the leadership of Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, aim to uplift infrastructure and educational standards in government primary, middle, high, and senior secondary schools.
MLAs from various constituencies including Sanaur, Ghanaur, Shutrana, Samana, Nabha, and Rajpura graced the inaugural ceremonies as chief guests. The dignitaries—Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra (Sanaur), Gurlal Singh Ghanaur (Ghanaur), Kulwant Singh Bazigar (Shutrana), Chetan Singh Jouramajra (Samana), Gurdev Singh Dev Mann (Nabha), and Neena Mittal (Rajpura)—interacted with students and staff, offering encouragement and appreciation for their efforts.
To mark the occasion, host schools organized educational exhibitions, patriotic songs, cultural performances, and interactive activities aimed at showcasing the achievements of government schools to parents and community members. These events also served as a platform to spread awareness about the Punjab government’s education initiatives.
Rajpura MLA Neena Mittal attended ceremonies at Government High School Rajpura Town, Government Primary School Purana Rajpura, and Government Primary School NTC Number 1. Ghanaur MLA Gurlal Singh Ghanaur participated in events at Government Senior Secondary Schools in Ghanaur, Kapuri, and Lohsimbli, as well as Government Primary School Ghanaur. Samana MLA Chetan Singh Jouramajra inaugurated projects at Government Senior Secondary School Gajipur and primary schools in Krishnabasti and Samana Munde. Similarly, Sanaur MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra led inaugurations in Binjal and Dudhansadhan.
In Nabha, MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Mann inaugurated facilities at Government Senior Secondary School Jassomajra, the School of Eminence in Bhadson, and Government Primary School Nauhra. Shutrana MLA Kulwant Singh Bazigar presided over multiple inaugurations at schools in Dhabbi Gujran, Shergarh, Gulzarpura, Arno, Glauli, and Gurditpura.
During the ceremonies, MLAs highlighted key initiatives by the Punjab government, including a 12% increase in the education budget, recruitment of campus managers and security staff, and international teacher training programs in Finland and Singapore aimed at enhancing instructional quality. They also recognized students excelling in academics, co-curricular activities, and the Business Blaster entrepreneurship initiative.
The events saw enthusiastic participation from District Education Officer (Secondary) Sanjeev Sharma, District Education Officer (Elementary) Shalu Mehra, Deputy DEOs Dr. Ravinderpal Sharma and Manwinder Kaur Bhullar, along with block nodal officers, education coordinators, school management committee members, local municipal representatives, panchayat leaders, parents, and students.
