Chandigarh, March 26
The surge in coronavirus cases in Chandigarh continued on Friday with the city reporting as many as four deaths due to the infection during the past 24 hours. The city also recorded 248 fresh cases of the pandemic during the same period.
The death toll in UT now stands 372 while the caseload has increased to 25,604. The number of active cases has climbed to 2392.
According to a media bulletin issued here, a 55-year-old COVID positive female R/o Sector 46, a case of Hypertension and Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus, has expired at GMCH 32. The second case relates to a 55 year old COVID positive male R/o Dhanas, a case of Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus and Coronary Artery Disease expired at GMSH-16. In the third instance, an 88 year old COVID positive male R/o Sector 23, a case of Hypertension and Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus, expired at GMSH-16. The fourth death was of a 70-year-old COVID positive male R/o Sector 44, a case of Type 1 Respiratory Failure and Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus, who expired at PGIMER.
The fresh cases of coronavirus have been reported from different parts of the city and the villages surrounding it.
Meanwhile, a total of 138 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
