Chandigarh, April 19, 2021:
Chandigarh reported 612 new COVID-19 positive cases on Sunday, which is the second highest single-day spike in COVID tally till date. Four deaths due to COVID were also reported in the last 24 hours. On Sunday, the city recorded maximum cases in a single day – 625. The city crossed ‘600’ mark consecutively for the second day.
As per the information released by the health department, UT Chandigarh, the total number of active cases in Chandigarh stands at 3,804.
In the last 24 hours, the department has tested 3,006 samples. As per the figure, 417 deaths have been reported in Chandigarh due to COVID-19 to date.
Likewise, the total number of patients who have tested positive to date stands at 34,546.

COVID Death:-
- A 45 year old COVID positive Female R/o Mauli Jagran, a case of Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, expired at PGIMER.
- A 70 year old COVID positive Male R/o Sector 22, a case of Severe Lung Disease, expired at Grecian Hospital, Mohali.
- A 60 year old COVID positive Male R/o Sector 30, a case of Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus, and Hypertension expired at GMSH 16.
- A 76 year old COVID positive Male R/o Manimajra, a case of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome expired at PGIMER.
Discharged Patients:-
- A total of 429 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
