Chandigarh, April 11, 2021:
An incident of theft of approximately Rs 4.3 crore from a bank branch came to light today.
As per the information, the theft took place in Axis Bank branch, located in Sector 34, Chandigarh. The bank authorities are leveling allegations against the security guard for the theft as the guard was not found at the branch after 3 am on Sunday.
Notably, the branch was closed for the last two days. When the trunks containing cash were checked by the bank authorities, over 4 crore cash was found missing inside the trunks, said the sources.
Inspector Rajiv Kumar, SHO of Sector 34 police station could not be contacted despite several attempts.
The Chandigarh police are investigating the matter after registering the complaint in this regard.
