CHANDIGARH, September 1:
With the ongoing decisive war against drugs ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has completed 18 months, Punjab Police has registered 58,924 first information reports (FIRs) and arrested 76,751 drug smugglers leading to the recovery of 3776 kg heroin since March 1, 2025.
Since the launch of this anti-drug drive, Punjab Police, under the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, has been conducting operations daily simultaneously in all the 28 Police districts of the state.
Apart from the recovery of 3776 kg haul of heroin, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order SPS Parmar said that police have also seized 944 kg opium, 448 quintals poppy husk, 129 kg charas, 1298 kg ganja, 70 kg ICE, 62.33 lakh intoxicant pills/tablets, and ₹21.99 crore drug money.
Meanwhile, Police teams have continued ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign on Day 224 with 370 individuals arrested with four weapons after 598 raids, while, preventive action has been taken against 164 persons and five proclaimed offenders (POs) were also held. People can anonymously report information related to wanted criminals and gangsters, and also share tips on crime and criminal activity, through the Anti Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946.
