– 75 cases registered against 8 accused
– Illegal constructions funded by drug money will face strict action: SSP
Nabha/Patiala, May 20:
As part of the Punjab Government’s ongoing ‘Yudh Nashiyan Virudh’ campaign, spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Patiala Police under the leadership of SSP Varun Sharma took decisive action today in Rohati Channa village, Nabha. Illegal structures built on government land by known drug Smugglers were demolished in a major crackdown aimed at eliminating the drug trade’s local infrastructure.
SSP Varun Sharma said drug Smuggler had illegally constructed rooms on land belonging to the Water Resources Department, which were being used for the supply of narcotics. These structures were dismantled using a JCB machine in the presence of departmental officials and heavy police deployment.
The eight accused whose illegal constructions were demolished have a combined total of 75 criminal cases registered against them. The individuals involved are: Prem Singh alias Kaka (13 cases) and his wife Chhoti Kaur (9 cases); Amarpal Singh alias Bulli (11 cases) and his wife Sarabjit Kaur alias Rodi (13 cases); Harmel Singh alias Bunty (5 cases); Amarjeet Kaur alias Amro (7 cases); Paramjit Kaur alias Bholi (10 cases); and Amandeep Singh alias Kalu (7 cases). All are facing charges under various serious sections related to drug trafficking.
SSP Varun Sharma stated that the Punjab Government is unwavering in its mission to save the youth from the scourge of drugs. He issued a stern warning to drug traffickers that such actions will continue across the district, and any illegal construction funded by drug money will be demolished without hesitation. He warned drug peddlers to abandon their operations immediately, stating that the administration is fully prepared to intensify its crackdown.
He also appealed to the public to report any drug-related activity to their nearest police station and encouraged families to seek help for those struggling with addiction by directing them to government-run de-addiction centers.
Present at the site of the operation were SP (D) Gurbans Singh Bains, DSP Nabha Mandeep Kaur, SHO Sadar Nabha Gurpreet Singh Sabrao, and a large contingent of police personnel.
