- Lineman earlier took Rs.21K for settling the electricity bill
Chandigarh, June 22:
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has nabbed PSPCL Lineman Mohinder Kumar posted at Khui Khera in Fazilka district for accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000.
The accused Lineman has been arrested on the complaint of Pardeep Kumar resident of village Bazidpur Kattianwali, who is running Balaji Milk Centre at his village.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that the complainant Pradeep Kumar had lodged a complaint with VB unit, Fazilka of VB Ferozepur Range that Lineman Mohinder Kumar had demanded bribe of Rs.40,000 for settling the Balaji Milk Centre’s electricity bill amounting to Rs.73,790 for month of April, 2023. The complainant informed that he had received the electricity bill of Rs.52,360 in February this year and the said Lineman had took Rs.21,000 from him to settle the electricity bill but when he has received the bill of Rs.73,790 in April then he got to know that the amount of February bill also included in the bill of April so he approached the Lineman again then he demanded additional Rs.40,000.
The spokesperson informed that after preliminary investigation of this complaint, a VB team laid a trap and the accused official has been arrested on the spot while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused Lineman at Police Station VB, Ferozepur Range. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
