Chandigarh, June 15:
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has nabbed a Retired Patwari for accepting a bribe of Rs 2500 and furnishing forged documents pertaining to Jamabandi of Mutation in 2016.
The accused Patwari has been identified as Iqbal Singh, who was posted at Revenue Halqa Jalalabad city in Fazilka district.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that the retired Patwari Iqbal Singh has been arrested on the complaint of Rajesh Kumar resident of Panje Ke Uttar in Ferozepur district.
Divulging further details, he said that the complainant Rajesh Kumar had lodged a complaint with Police Station VB Ferozepur Range that Patwari Iqbal Singh had demanded bribe of Rs.2500 for Mutation of the 4-marla plot, which he had got through transfer deed from his mother Kirpa Rani. When the complainant submitted the copy of Jamabandi to a Bank for availing loan against the said plot then he got to know from bank officials that the plot documents have been forged.
The spokesperson informed that after preliminary investigation of this complaint, a VB team had sent the documents to a forensic science laboratory in Mohali for further verification and found that accused Patwari had issued forged ‘Nakal document’ to the complainant Rajesh Kumar.
In this regard, a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused Patwari at Police Station VB, Ferozepur Range. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
