Chandigarh, June 19:
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Monday nabbed a Junior Engineer (JE) of PSPCL Kirpa Singh posted at Aliwal Power Station in Gurdaspur district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that the accused JE has been arrested on the complainant of Sukhjeet Singh, resident of village Dhadiala in Gurdaspur.
Giving details, he informed that the complainant had approached the VB Police Station, Amritsar Range and lodged a complaint that the JE Kirpa Singh has demanded Rs 20,000 as a bribe to install a new transformer.
The spokesperson said that after preliminary investigation of the complaint, a team of VB Police Station, Amritsar Range laid a trap and arrested the accused JE red handed while accepting the first instalment of bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused JE at VB police station, Amritsar Range. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
