UT Administration relaxes COVID Restrictions

COVID19 WAR ROOM UPDATE-

Chandigarh, 22nd June, 2021: Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Home and Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, Director General of Police at Punjab Raj Bhawan. Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, UT, Sh. Yashpal Garg, CEO, Chandigarh Housing Board, Sh. Vinod P. Kavle, Secretary IT, Sh. SS Gill, Secretary Education, Sh. Uma Shankar Gupta, Director Transport and Deputy Commissioner of Mohali, Senior doctors from PGIMER, Director Principal, GMCH-32 & Director Health Services, GMSH-16 attended through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1. Dr Vipin Kaushal from PGIMER stated that they have 98 covid cases in PGIMER, out of which 09 belong to Chandigarh, 59 to Punjab, 23 to Haryana, 04 to Himachal Pradesh & 03 from other states. He also mentioned that they have tested 7,655 samples and the positivity rate was 1.67% for Chandigarh. He also mentioned that even elective surgeries have been started by PGIMER now.

Dr. Jasbinder Kaur, Director Principal, GMCH-32 stated that they have tested 4,600 covid samples and the positivity rate was found to be 0.74%. She also mentioned that there are 29 active cases of Mucormycosis (Black fungus), out of which 02 are also suffering from corona.

Dr. Amandeep Kang, Director Health Services stated that 11,581 covid samples have been tested for the city during last week and the positivity rate was 1.8%. She mentioned that the overall recovery rate was 98.2%. She also mentioned that 4,59,935 doses of vaccines have been administered in Chandigarh so far and walk-in facility for vaccination of 18 years and above citizens has been started in all government hospitals and dispensaries of Chandigarh from today. Currently about 40,000 doses are available and 50,700 doses are to be received in the current month. Further in the month of July, 1.5 lakh doses for govt sector and 50,000 doses to private hospitals have been allocated by Govt of India. So there is no shortage of vaccines in the city. All three health institutions viz PGIMER, GMCH and GMSH reported the opening of physical OPDs. They were advised to take Covid samples of non vaccinated OPD patients, as they are more prone to Covid infection.

2. Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 410 active cases and Deputy Commissioner, UT, Chandigarh stated that they have 311 active cases.

3. Commissioner, Municipal Corporation stated that they have already started the monsoon preparations by cleaning of choes and clearing of road gullies.

4. Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT directed the Director General of Police that strict action be taken against the violators of covid protocol, particularly for non-wearing of masks at Sukhna lake and other public places.

He also advised Director Health Services to form a Vaccination Team to administer the doses at home for those senior citizens who cannot move to vaccination centres, as they are bed ridden or suffering from acute illness.

5. After detailed discussions in the War Room, the following decisions regarding additional relaxations were taken :-

 All shops will remain open from 10:00 AM to 08:00 PM.v The shop owners will ensure that covid protocol is duly followed.

 All restaurants/bars can remain open with 50% capacity from 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM.v

 The night curfew in the city will be from 11:00 PM to 05:00 AM.v

 The number of persons permitted for marriages/funeral and any social gatherings are enhanced from 30 to 50 persons.v

 The Sports Complexes are allowed to be used by the members but they must adhere to covid appropriate behavior.v

 Boating in Sukhna lake is permitted with 50 % capacity only.v

6. Hon’ble Administrator informed all that this would be the last war room meeting for Sh. Manoj Parida here due to his transfer to Government of India. He praised Sh. Parida for the wonderful work done in Chandigarh and wished him success in his future endeavours.

All the doctors also thanked Sh. Manoj Parida Adviser to Administrator for the support and advice during the pandemic and wished him all the best for his future assignments.
