Candidates’ job cases lingered for 32 years due to previous governments’ negligence: Laljit Singh Bhullar

Exhorts newly-inducted employees to serve with dedication and missionary zeal for the welfare of society

Chandigarh, November 27:

Punjab Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Wednesday, handed over appointment letters to 17 newly recruited employees on compassionate ground.

While congratulating the appointees, the Cabinet Minister urged them to work with dedication and missionary zeal to serve the society. Public service is a noble responsibility, said the Cabinet Minister, encouraging the recruits to contribute meaningfully to the welfare of the people.

Several candidates appointed today in the Transport Department emotionally shared that they had been waiting for jobs for 10 to 32 years, but previous governments never extended their support.

Newly appointed employee Sarbajeet Singh from village Nangal Feeda, Jalandhar district said that after his father Dara Singh’s death, he applied for a job in the department in the year 1992. However, due to previous governments’ negligence and indifference, he faced continuous disappointment. Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar, Sarbajeet Singh said that the Mann government’s efforts finally secured him a job almost 32 years later.

Sukhdev Singh, now in his 51st year of age, shared that after his father Harcharan Singh r/o village Mukandpur, Jalandhar district, died on duty in 2000, he applied for a compassionate job. However, previous governments consistently pushed him aside, making him a subject of ridicule for nearly 24 years. He said that the Mann government has now extended support, expediting his case and ultimately providing employment.

Similarly, newly-appointed employees Sukhbir Singh s/o late Tarsem Singh from Jaspal Nagar, Sultanwind Road (Amritsar) and Rajinder Singh s/o late Jaswant Kaur from Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, Tarn Taran Road (Amritsar) were got appointed after 18 years of waiting. Similarly, Mrs. Asha w/o late Ashok Kumar from Ferozepur city and Jaswinder Singh s/o late Satpal Singh from Kalka (Panchkula) received employment after 14 years, while Gagandeep Singh s/o late Ruldu Singh from Sri Muktsar Sahib secured a job after 13 years of anticipation. Overjoyed, these employees profusely thanked Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar.

While taking previous Akali-BJP and Congress governments iron-handedly, Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that eligible candidates were sidelined for up to 32 years due to previous government’s lethargy and lackadaisical approach.

He said, Mann government is relentlessly working to provide employment opportunities to the state’s youth, mentioning that upon assuming the Transport Department’s responsibility, he immediately instructed officers to expedite job-related matters. He further directed them to process compassionate employment cases on a priority basis, saying that no further delays would be tolerated.

S. Bhullar said that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led government is committed to creating ample employment opportunities for the state’s youth. He noted that around 50,000 government jobs have already been provided so far.

He further encouraged the newly-appointed employees to become integral contributors to the state’s development, urging them to prioritize the well-being of every section of society.

The Transport Minister said, in a historic achievement, the Mann government has created a record by providing nearly 50,000 government jobs within just 32 months since assuming office in March 2022. The Cabinet Minister also pointed out a positive trend of reverse migration, as many youth previously compelled to seek opportunities abroad are now returning to Punjab due to the favourable employment environment created by the Mann government.
