Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister congratulates department for successful paddy procurement season
Emphasizes streamlining of tender process
Chandigarh, December 19:
Congratulating the department for the successful and hassle free paddy procurement season, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak exhorted the officers and employees to keep up this trend in the coming seasons also as the department is closely associated with the farming sector which is the backbone of State’s economy.
Chairing a review meeting of the department today at Anaj Bhawan in Sector 39, the Minister also emphasized that the tendering process must be further streamlined and all norms must be scrupulously adhered to so as to avoid any complications later on.
Stating that the bills should be submitted as soon as the delivery of rice is made by the miller to the FCI, the Minister said that this is necessary to ensure prompt payments. “The process with regard to the procuring of E-PoS machines should be fully transparent as the Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has zero tolerance towards malpractices and transparency is its biggest hallmark”, said Mr. Kataruchak.
Directing the officers to speed up the promotion process, the Minister said that promotion is a big motivation in the career of an employee which encourages him or her to do better. The Minister further pointed out that the cases of the department going on in the courts of law should be effectively argued and efforts should be made to minimize the litigation.
The Minister also emphasized that a robust mechanism should be developed pertaining to the labour and cartege tenders.
Among those present on the occasion included the Secretary of the Department Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Director Puneet Goyal besides other senior officers.
