Chandigarh, October 22
UT reported three more deaths due to coronavirus on Thursday in a clear indication that the pandemic is far from being over and the authorities and the public at large will have to continue to take full measures prevent its spread during the ongoing festive season when temples, gurdwaras and bazaars will see large crowds.
The UT also witnessed 53 fresh of the infection. The death toll in the city stands at 212 while the caseload has risen to 13,848. There are as many as 712 active cases.
According to a medical bulletin here, an 80-year old male R/o Sector 43, a case of Cancer with Metastasis, who tested COVID positive, expired at Max Hospital, Mohali on Wednesday. A 65-year-old male R/o Sector 35, a case of Hypertension, who tested COVID positive, expired at Fortis Hospital, Mohali on Thursday. A 68-year-old male R/o Dhanas, a case of Hypertension and Diabetes, who tested COVID positive, has expired at PGIMER on Thursday.
Fresh cases of infection have been reported from different parts of the city and the villages surrounding it.
Meanwhile, a total of 82 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
