19 Block Level Health Mela Are Being Held Across Punjab From 18th To 22nd April

CHANDIGARH/SBS NAGAR, April 18,2022-Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Vijay Singla launched the Health Melas across the state here today under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahautsav’ campaign. Addressing the state-level event held at the district hospital, Dr. Vijay Singla said that 119 block-level health mela are being organized across the state from April 18th to 22nd.
He said that these mela are meant to provide quality and comprehensive health amenities to the people, particularly the people living in the villages, and to give them more actual information about the symptoms, causes, prevention, and treatment of various diseases as the issue of health today demands a lot of care. Dr. Singla said that our government will leave no stone unturned to make sure the comprehensive well-being of the people and enhance the health infrastructure and deliver quality healthcare services. He said that the objective of these mela would only be achieved when tests, medicine, and other health facilities will be provided in the public hospitals.
He ensured that in the future the people would be provided high-quality health facilities in government hospitals. Speaking at the event, Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh, said that it was a matter of pride for the Mohali constituency that these state-level fairs related to public health have been started in his constituency.
He said that the people of the state were facing a double whammy of communicable and non-communicable diseases and most of these diseases could be prevented by early detection, health education, timely referral, and management. He hoped that these melas would turn out to be invaluable to the people and would go a long way in making the people of the state healthier. Many stalls related to various health programs and for other departments were set up in the mela today which various people visited.
Apart from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, several other departments of the government such as the Food and Supplies Department, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Department of AYUSH, Department of School Education, Department of Women and Child Development, Department of Information and Public Relations, Panchayati Raj Institution and Urban Development Departments are participating. In the mela, various facilities like laboratory services, consultation, medicine and treatment, referral, etc. will be offered in one place.
