Speaker of Punjab assembly Mr Kultar Singh Sandhwan today underscored the need for adopting organic farming to ensure healthy and hygienic living standards.
Chairing a discussion with the experts of organic farming here in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the Speaker said that the anomalies in our eating habits have resulted in enhancement of physical and mental ailments. He said that the only solution for overcoming these problems is to adopt organic food. Mr Sandhwan said that the need of hour is to adopt naturally ripened fruits and vegetables along with lost grains or millets.
Speaker said that the state government led by Chief Minister Mr Bhagwant Mann is very sensitive on this issue. Mr Sandhwan said that he will personally flag the points raised by the experts with the Chief Minister in the coming days. He also said that the Committee of Vidhan Sabha on Agriculture will also hold such detailed parleys in the coming days to sensitise the members of state assembly on this crucial issue.
Experts of Kheti Virasat Mission including Mr Ominder Dutt Sharma, Dr Davinder Sharma, Dr Amar Singh Azaad, Dr Khadir Wali and others also highlighted several issues with the health, Agro and environmental experts besides sharing their ideas with progressive farmers.
