CHANDIGARH, NOVEMBER 26: Students of various educational institutes belonging to the SC and BC category will be able to apply online from today onwards for Dr. BR Ambedkar SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme launched by Punjab Government and Post Matric Scholarship for OBCs.
Disclosing this here today, Punjab Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharmsot informed that eligible SC & BC students can apply online on Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship portal of the website of department www.scholarships.punjab.gov.in till November 26, 2020 to January 4, 2021. He said that Aadhaar card/number is mandatory for registration on the portal. He said that the student would not be able to register through wrong Aadhaar number nor would he be able to apply in more than one institution.
Mr. Dharmsot said that before applying online, the students have to upload the photo, caste certificate, income certificate issued by the Tehsildar along with the undertaking prescribed for registration on the portal. He said that if any student has difficulty in applying online then the nodal officers of the Department of Student Technical Education and Industrial Training, Higher Education, Research and Medical Education and Animal Husbandry, whose contact numbers are displayed on the help desk of the portal, can be contacted.
Apprising about the eligibility criteria, Mr. Dharmsot said that the students, whose parental or guardians’ income is less than Rs. 4 Lakh are eligible for Dr. BR Ambedkar SC Post Matric Scholarship to pursue higher education in various institutions placed in Chandigarh and Punjab after Matriculation.
The Cabinet Minister said that students belonging to backward class, whose parental/guardians- income is less than Rs. 1.50 lakh per annum, are eligible for scholarship to pursue higher studies in India for various courses after matriculation under Post Matric Scholarship for OBCs.
