21.62 crore to be spent on 83.39 km long Bhawanigarh channel and 43.59 km long Nadampur channel to be renovated with 11.48 crore: Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria
Required amount of water will be assured for irrigation in Sangrur: Vijay Inder Singla
Nadampur/Sangrur, November 23, 2020 : To ensure proper availability of canal water for irrigation, water resources minister Punjab Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria and school education and PWD minister Vijay Inder Singla, on Monday, inaugurated the renovation process of irrigation channels in Sangrur. After the inauguration, cabinet minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria said that Rs. 21.62 crore will be spent on the renovation of 85.39 kilometer long Bhawanigarh channel and 43.59 km long Nadampur channel will be renovated with the estimated cost of Rs. 11.48 crore. He added that though, Covid-19 pandemic hampered the developmental pace of Punjab government but Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is committed to assure overall development of the state within his 5-year term. He also applauded the efforts of his cabinet colleague Vijay Inder Singla for continuing developmental works in Sangrur assembly constituency despite Covid-19.
While addressing the simple function, Vijay Inder Singla said that after the renovation of these water channels, the required amount of water for irrigation will be ensured. He added that apart from hundreds of farmers, his own dream has also been fulfilled as repair process of these decades old water channels has started today. He said that he has been committed to provide better facilities to the residents of Sangrur and required funds for the same will be arranged without any hindrance.
Singla said that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab government has always stood by farmers and will not allow Modi government to implement its draconian laws in Punjab at any cost. He added that for this purpose, their government has taken the initiative to reject these bills in Vidhan Sabha.
On this occasion, DC Ramvir, SDM Bhawanigarh Dr. Karamjit Singh, Chairman Block Samiti Varinder Panwa, Chairman Market Committee Pardeep Kadd and officials of irrigation department were also present.
