Cabinet Minister Lays Foundation Stones for Development Projects Worth ₹2.64 Crore in Longowal
Longowal, August 20 – Punjab Cabinet Minister and AAP State President, Mr. Aman Arora, paid glowing tributes to Sant Harchand Singh Longowal on his 40th martyrdom anniversary, stating that he rose above personal interests to work for peace, harmony, and unity in Punjab. Addressing a blood donation camp organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch Sangrur, at the local grain market, the Minister said Sant Longowal sacrificed his life for communal harmony, making him a guiding light for every peace-loving individual.
He expressed grief that even today, some political parties misuse Sant Longowal’s name for petty politics, despite his supreme sacrifice for Punjab’s unity. He emphasized that Longowal village, known as the land of 52 martyrs, holds a sacred place in Punjab’s history, and the government will always honor this legacy. On this occasion, Mr. Aman Arora himself donated blood, joined by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Sandeep Rishi, SDM Mr. Charanjot Singh Walia, Municipal Council President Ms. Parminder Kaur Barar, and a large number of officials and local residents.
Marking the martyrdom anniversary, Mr. Arora also laid the foundation stones for three major development projects worth ₹2.64 crore in Longowal. These include the Giani Gyan Singh Modern Library (₹1.50 crore), an Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinic (₹25 lakh), and the renovation of a pond under the Seechewal Model (₹89 lakh).
Highlighting the government’s development vision, the Minister said that so far, projects worth ₹65 crore have already been completed in Longowal alone, a record across Punjab. He noted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is working extensively to strengthen healthcare, education, and infrastructure, reversing the setbacks caused by the wrong intentions and policies of previous regimes.
He assured residents that every essential work in the constituency is being prioritized and that within a year, no project will remain pending. “Longowal, being the land of 52 martyrs, can never be ignored. My father Babu Bhagwan Das taught me that in politics, real work matters more than showmanship. We will continue serving the people with full dedication,” Mr. Arora added.
The Minister congratulated the people of Longowal, stating that better infrastructure will further accelerate development across the Sunam constituency. A large number of locals enthusiastically participated in the programs marking the occasion.
