-Will conduct surprise inspections at the revenue offices in the state, stern action will be initiated against erring official, warns Jimpa

With the pro-people policies of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, 40 percent more income has been recorded from land and property registries as compared to last year figures in February month.
Revenue Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa has said that 40 percent more money has come into the treasury of the Punjab government from land and property registries during February 2023 compared to the previous year. He said that providing transparent, hassle-free and corruption-free services to the people of Punjab is the main goal of the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and due to this, the income of the state witnessed manifold rise in the income.
The revenue minister said that from February 1 to February 28, 2023, an income of Rs 338.99 crore has come to the treasury under stamp and registration. He said that this income is 40 percent more than the month of February of 2022. In the year 2022, this income was Rs 241.62 crore.
Divulging further details, Jimpa said that from April 2022 to February 2023, a total of 19 percent more income has been recorded in the treasury of the Punjab government as compared to the previous year. During these months, last year the total income was Rs 2929.74 crore whereas from April 2022 to February 2023 the same income has been Rs 3499.94 crore.
He said that strict instructions has been issued to the officials/employees of the revenue department so that people do not face any hassle while conducting registrations.
Jimpa said that in consonance with the directions issued by the Chief Minister to ensure a transparent and corruption free system, he would soon conduct surprised visits to the revenue offices across the state and if any loopholes were found or things to cause trouble to the people came to light, action would be taken against the erring officials on the spot.
The revenue minister said that in the past, the common people were unsatisfied with the functioning of the revenue department but after the formation of the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, people are getting smooth and better services and bribery has also been curbed. He has appealed that people should cooperate with the government to strengthen the treasury of the state and stop corruption completely. He urged people to not give bribe to any officer/employee for any work and if any official of the revenue department asks for money in exchange for work, they must lodge a complaint. The perpetrators will not be spared under any circumstances.
