Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been selected as an Outstanding Achiever for the Government, Politics, Law & Society category and will receive the award at the UK Parliament.
Delhi/Chandigarh, January 24, 2023:Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha will receive the “Outstanding Achiever” honour at the prestigious India UK Achievers Honours in London on 25th January 2023. Raghav has been selected as the “Outstanding Achiever” for the “Government and Politics” category, which recognises individuals who are demonstrating excellence in how democracy and justice are experienced and how challenging societal problems are tackled together for the good of people and the planet.
The India UK Achievers Honours celebrate the educational and professional achievements of young Indians who have studied in the UK, marking India’s 75th independence anniversary. Chadha studied at the prestigious London School of Economics (LSE), after which he set up a boutique wealth management firm in London. He then returned to India and joined India Against Corruption Movement demanding an anti-corruption legislation as a young activist. The movement later culminated in the formation of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), spearheaded by one of the leading faces of the movement, Mr Arvind Kejriwal. As a young leader, Chadha became a founding member of the AAP and worked under the guidance and mentorship of Mr Kejriwal. Fueled by hardwork and dedication, Chadha made a mark for himself in Indian politics at a very young age. In 2022, aged just 33, he became the youngest Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of the Indian parliament, where he represents the state of Punjab.
The award ceremony will be held in London on 25th January 2023, including receptions at the UK Parliament. It has been organised by the NISAU UK in partnership with the British Council in India, supported by the UK Government Department for International Trade and the UK Higher Education sector. This is the second international recognition for Chadha within a year. Last year, he was honoured as a Young Global Leader by the most coveted World Economic Forum.
On receiving the India UK Outstanding Achievers Honour, Raghav Chadha said,
“This award is not a recognition of an individual’s achievements but the recognition of a new brand of politics introduced by my leader, Arvind Kejriwal. India’s fastest-growing political start-up, the Aam Aadmi Party, is truly representative of its people. This award recognises the journey of an alumnus of the London School of Economics to a torch bearer of the Kejriwal School of Politics, of which I am a student, and so are many faceless and nameless grassroots karyakartas. I dedicate this award to my leader Arvind Kejriwal Ji and those who have worked tirelessly to build this party. This award will motivate me to work harder and serve the people of my country to the best of my ability.”
