Chandigarh, May 19:
Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhawan met the Former Canadian Health Minister and Ex-Premier of British Columbia Mr. Ujjal Dosanjh, at his official residence here and discussed the matters of mutual interest.
While discussing the issues related to the Punjabi diaspora, S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan raised the issue of economic exploitation of Punjabi students, who went to study in Canada. He said that due to economic exploitation, the mental health of Punjabi students residing there, is having an adverse effect, and the Canadian government needs to take immediate steps to resolve this issue, besides helping the students in this matter. Mr. Dosanjh assured the Speaker to take up the matter with the Canadian government.
Mr. Ujjal Dosanjh also shared issues related to the state of Punjabi diaspora. On this, S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan assured that the Punjab government is consistently striving to protect the rights of Punjabis living abroad. NRI Punjabis’ issues will be brought to the notice of the Punjab government to resolve at the earliest, he added.
