Chandigarh, September 20:
The outsourced and contractual employees of Punjab Roadways suspended their strike after receiving assurance from Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar during a meeting held on Wednesday.
The representative of outsourced and contractual employees’ union met Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar at Punjab Bhawan here today. Transport Secretary S. Dilraj Singh Sandhwalia and State Transport Commissioner Ms. Amandeep Kaur were present on this occasion.
During the meeting, the protesting outsourced and contractual employees apprised the Transport Minister about their demands. S. Laljit Singh Bhullar told the agitating employees that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed for the welfare of all the employees of the state and all their genuine and legitimate demands will be addressed soon.
He informed the employees that most of their demands have already been accepted but the remaining would be fulfilled soon as per rules. The minister asked them to cooperate with the transport department.
The Transport Minister directed the officials to pay the next salary to the employee with a 5 percent increase and reinstate the blacklisted employees as per the rules. The minister also directed to replace the buses in dilapidated condition at once.
