The rally, which was led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SBS Nagar Dr Mehtab Singh, witnessed an impressive participation by people from all walks of life. Apart from gazetted officers and police personnel, about 600 people pedalled to give the message against drugs.
The rally was commenced from ITI Ground Nawanshahr and after taking a round of the city via Chandigarh Chowk-Garhshankar road-Rahon road-Saloh road, it culminated at the same venue. Thereafter, participants were felicitated on the occasion.
SSP Dr Mehtab Singh, while addressing the media, said that the intent behind organising cycle rally was to sensitise people about perils of drugs and encourage them to live a healthy life. These kinds of initiatives also helps in enhancing the engagement of youth in sports activities, he added.
“District Police will continue these kinds of initiative in future also to keep our youth away from drugs by channelising their energy in right direction,” said the SSP, while urging people to give their maximum cooperation in this pivotal fight against drugs.
