Environment Park and Garden to be constructed on Forest Department land at a cost of Rs 26 lakh-Dharamsot
Nabha, August 18: Punjab Minister for Forests and Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Affairs Sadhu Singh Dharamsot today inaugurated the construction of an environmental park and garden dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib on about two acres land of the Forest Department at the old Hathi Khana in Nabha. Mr. Dharamsot said that this park and garden would cost around Rs. 26 lakhs and all kinds of plants would be planted here, which would serve as a lung for the environmental of Nabha. Adjacent to the population of three wards of Nabha, the park would be developed by the Forest Department. On the occasion, the Forest Minister also inaugurated the planting of Molsari saplings in the park.While answering the query of media persons on the issue of SYL, Sardar Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, categorically stated that Punjab had no surplus water to share with any other state. Citing the firm stand of the CM, Capt. Amaninder Singh, taken during his previous tenure, the Minister said that the CM had abrogated all the treaties then to safeguard the river water. Hence, no accusing finger could be raised towards the CM on the issue of safeguarding river water of Punjab even now, further said Dharamsot while condemning the SAD for rmisleading propaganda on the issue. The SAD-BJP government had failed miserably to plead the issue of SYL properly, hence, they had no moral right to question Captain government on SYL. In response to another question, Mr. Dharamsot said that out of the illegal occupation of some 31,000 acres of land of the Forest Department, the Forest Department has so far relinquished the illegal possession of its 15,000 acres of land. The ongoing cases in this regard are being followed up regularly. Former Municipal Council President Rajneesh Mittal Shanti, Improvement Trust Chairman Amardeep Singh Khanna, Conservator South Circle Patiala K. Kannan, District Forest Officer Harbhajan Singh, Forest Range Officer Surinder Sharma, Najindjit Bhatia, Hari Krishan Seth, Pankaj Pappu, Anil Rana, Contractor Darshan Singh, Kashmir Lalka, Saleem Mohammad were also present.
