The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has taken a significant step towards strengthening the horticulture sector in the state by approving the recruitment of 111 Horticulture Development Officers (HDOs). This initiative aims to enhance the overall development of the horticulture industry, support farmers, and create new employment opportunities in the state.
Horticulture Minister Shri Mohinder Bhagat informed that the Chief Minister has given his approval to proceed with the recruitment process for filling these 111 vacancies of HDOs. He has instructed senior officials to submit the necessary details to the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) to initiate the selection process at the earliest.
The Minister further emphasized that the appointment of HDOs will significantly contribute to the development of the horticulture sector by providing farmers with technical expertise, modern agricultural practices and improved support services.
He added that the recruitment of these officers is expected to have a far-reaching impact on the state’s agricultural economy. With trained professionals in place, farmers will receive better assistance in crop management, organic farming and advanced cultivation techniques, leading to higher productivity and improved income. Furthermore, the initiative will facilitate the implementation of various government schemes and promote the expansion of horticultural activities across Punjab.
