The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is constantly striving for the welfare of every section of the state. Working in this direction, Labour, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Cultural Affairs and Hospitality Minister Anmol Gagan Mann said that the state government has organized 991 awareness camps at districts level during the year 2022-23 to sensitize about Government welfare schemes and register construction workers through the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
Giving more information in this regard, the minister of lobour said that 10493 construction workers were registered during the 991 awareness camps organized at the district level. Now the registered construction workers are eligible to avail the benefits of various schemes of the BOCW Board.
Minister added that the schemes of the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board include Wazifa Scheme, Shagan Scheme, Exgratia Scheme, providing spectacles, dental and hearing aids and other schemes. She said that any construction worker who has worked as a construction worker for more than 90 days in the last 12 months and whose age is between 18-60 years can become a beneficiary. She told that the construction worker can go to the nearest service center and get his registration done.
Minister further explained that the state government has launched a mobile app “Punjab Kirti Sahayak” for the convenience of construction workers. She said that with this mobile app, the construction worker can register himself to benefit from the welfare schemes of the government from his mobile.
She informed that more such awareness camps will be organized at the district level from time to time for the welfare of the workers of the state.
