Chandigarh, January 29: The Punjab Government is vigorously working to revamp the infrastructure of Government Medical Colleges in the state. It was disclosed by Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Om Prakash Soni here today.
Addressing the high level meeting of authorities of medical institutes here at Punjab Bhawan, Mr. Soni said that all the Government Medical Colleges and Baba Farid University have carried out remarkable efforts during the pandemic, which has been lauded on many occasions by the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, this is a matter of great pride for our department. The meeting was attended by officials of Government Medical Colleges, Government Dental Colleges, Ayurvedic Colleges, Baba Farid Health Medical Sciences University Faridkot and Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University.
Mr. Soni said that the development work pertaining to government medical colleges had been discontinued due to COVID Lockdown/Curfew, will now be completed on war footing so that the funds received by the government for the financial year 2020-21 could be utilized in true spirit. He directed the officers to ensure that every demand received from the medical colleges to be met in a time bound manner.
During the meeting, the Cabinet Minister also reviewed the expenditure incurred from the funds received for the financial year 2020-21 and the required budget for the financial year 2021-22. He also instructed the officers to spend the funds received for the current financial year as per the rules immediately and ensure that funds will not lapsed back.
Mr. Soni directed the officers to ensure strict adherence to the Punjab Government rules regarding the utilization of funds. On this occasion he also released the calendar of Guru Ravidas University.
Among others who were present on the occasion included Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid Health Sciences University Dr. Raj Bahadur and Principal Secretary, Medical Education and Research, Mr. D.K. Tewari.
