Punjab celebrates achieving of 2 crore mark in Covid vaccination

On the achievement of crossing the milestone of giving more than 2 crore doses of Covid vaccines in the state of Punjab, a felicitation ceremony was held at Mohali under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Om Prakash Soni said that this achievement has been possible with the collective efforts of all the health authorities and other stakeholders and institutions like WHO, USAID etc.,who have done commendable work to achieve this feat. He said that a comprehensive vaccination campaign was being carried out across the state to cover the entire adult population.
MD PHSC Amit kumar, Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. Andesh, Director Health Services(Family Welfare)Dr. Om Parkash Gojra,State Immunization Officer Dr. Balwinder kaur , State Nodal Officer Covid Dr. Rajesh Bhaskar were honored for their contributions in fight against covid.The District Immunization Officers(DIOs) are the nodal officers of this vaccination program at each district.These DIOs were especially felicitated today for their contribution in this successful vaccination drive.
Mr. Soni while eulogizing the health care workers stated that covid vaccination drive in Punjab is on track to achieve 100 percent inoculation of its population, thereby reducing the chances of any third wave.Further he appealed to the general public for strict adherence to the covid preventive measures and in the wake of rising number of dengue cases in the state every Friday should be observed as Dry day.
Apart from the celebratory function , Mr. Soni also inaugurated a model vaccination centre established under the technical guidance of USAID’s project RISE(Reaching Impact,Saturation and Epidemic Control).USAID would further open such model vaccination centres in each district of Punjab.USAID will also establish 20 RTPCR labs in the state and will provide technical support and training to persons in oxygen plants as well.
