CHANDIGARH, August 9:
Setting a stage for a dynamic collaboration that promises to drive positive change in the healthcare landscape as desired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Department of Medical Education & Research, Punjab and Consocia Advisory/Stryker India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under the leadership of Punjab Medical Education & Research Minister Dr Balbir Singh at Punjab Bhawan here on Wednesday.
Dr Balbir Singh said that this partnership is a significant step towards fostering innovation and advancement, which aims to leverage the unique strengths and expertise to tackle challenges, seize opportunities, and create meaningful impact, on patient care and research especially in the field of stroke and brain attacks, initially in the Government Medical Colleges in the state.
“This MoU will help in the development of medical manpower with quality education in the field of medicine and preparation of specialist and super specialist doctors in the state and to promote research activities in the Medical Colleges of Punjab State,” he said.
The Health Minister said that the state is committed to identifying, developing and propagating the best medical innovations for the treatment of stroke in the state, with the latest intervention that is mechanical thrombectomy as an alternative to the first line of action other than conventional treatments for stroke.
Meanwhile, both parties have agreed on the mutual consent to establish an awareness and capacity-building programme to train medical practitioners, doctors and interventionists. This partnership also underscores the state government’s resolve to provide better and more affordable healthcare in the community.
