APPEALS TO PEOPLE TO CELEBRATE IN GREEN, ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY & COVID-SAFE MANNER
Chandigarh, November 13:
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday appealed to the people to celebrate the festivals of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas in a green, environment-friendly and Covid-safe manner.
Extending warm greetings to the people, the Chief Minister urged them to follow all Covid norms and to spend the festivals with their families in the comfort and safety of their homes amid these unprecedented times. He exhorted them to mark these celebrations by illuminating their homes, maintaining social distancing.
The Chief Minister also urged the people to refrain from bursting fire-crackers altogether, even though the state government has allowed a 2-hour window for playing with them, to check the spread of pollution, which could further aggravate the Covid situation.
Besides Diwali and the historic ‘Bandi Chhor Diwas’, which marks the release of 52 Hindu Princes from the Gwalior fort by Sixth Guru Sri Hargobind Sahib ji on the Diwali festival in year 1612, Captain Amarinder also greeted people on the occasion of Vishwakarma Day.
He said he hoped and prayed that these joyous occasions would usher in happiness, health and prosperity among one and all.
