Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, October 28:
In a major bonanza for Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, the Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday announced Rs. 10 crore for the overall development of the constituency besides declaring on demand from local MLA and Working President PPCC Kuljit Singh Nagra that the road from Sri Fatehgarh Sahib to Morinda would be widened within one month and would be named Mata Gujri Marg.
Addressing a gathering here, the CM Channi also said that no mafia whether sand, cable or transport would be tolerated in the State and emphasis would be on to provide transparent and hassle free governance to the people of Punjab. He further pointed out that Fatehgarh Sahib would be accorded a prioritized place in the theme park coming up at Sri Chamkaur Sahib.
Earlier, the CM Channi paid obeisance at Gurudwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. He was also honoured with Siropa at the information office.
Later on, the Chief Minister dedicated to the public Mehtabi Bagh situated inside the Aam Khas Bagh in Sirhind. The Mehtabi Bagh has been renovated and given a new beautified look, which is the part of conservation project of Aam Khaas Bagh at a cost of Rs. 6.50 crore as part of the efforts of the State Government to preserve for posterity the Aam Khas Bagh. Similarly, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of the Sub Divisional complex near Ambedkar Bhawan at a cost of Rs. 7 crore. The upcoming building would include the offices of the SDM, Tehsildar as well as Patwar Station.
On the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of the legendary Sikh General Baba Banda Singh Ji Bahadur, the Chief Minister planted a sapling near Baba Banda Singh Ji Bahadur memorial which was sometime ago dedicated to the people with the 12 ft. High statue of the iconic General. The Jyoti Saroop Chowk was subsequently renamed as Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Chowk.
In order to provide the benefit of the development centric government schemes to the people in a transparent and hassle free manner, the CM Channi visited the Suvidha Camp at Virasat Villa where the people were assisted in filling the forms to avail various schemes and the benefits were granted on the spot. The services included pensions for Old Age, Widow, Differently abled and dependent people, Financial assistance for making pucca house, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana, Waiving off the electricity bill arrears of consumers upto 2 Kw load, Financial Assistance for construction of toilets in houses, Free domestic gas connections, Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana cards, Financial assistance under the Aashirwad scheme at the time of girls’ marriage, Scholarship schemes, Benefits of the loan schemes of the SC and BC Corporation and BACKFINCO, Making bus pass, Disposing of the pending cases of mutation, MGNREGA job cards and pending cases pertaining to the CLU and passing the maps.
Among others present on the occasion included the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Randeep Singh Nabha, MP Sri Fatehgarh Sahib Dr. Amar Singh, Working President PPCC and MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra, MLA Gurpreet Singh GP, and Deputy Commissioner Surbhi Malik and SSP Sandeep Goyal.
