Employment Generation Minister Channi lauds the efforts & directs PSDM to work on modalities to start more online job oriented courses
Chandigarh, July 21: Keeping in view the present and future challenges in the employment sector and skill demands of the global industry due to COVID-19, the Punjab Government is working on various methodologies to provide jobs and skill training to the Youth of the state.
The Technical Education and Employment Generation & Training Minister Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi has said that the Punjab Skill Development Mission has taken a lead in this and launched two job oriented courses as pilot projects for the online skill training to the youth of the state.
He said that as per an advisory issued by the Government of India to close private and government educational institutions till the lockdown period therefore physical skill development training programmes can not be run in the state. But the Youth sitting at homes is looking for online platforms wherein they can get the skills as per the demand of working industrial sectors.
Channi said that the PSDM has started online training courses in the Logistics and Telecom sectors through empanelled training partners namely M/S Safeducate and M/S Orion Edutech in Logistics and Telecom sector for 200 candidates each for urban poor candidates of Punjab.
The Minister further said that the course content is as per the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and placement oriented. The mobilization of all 400 candidates has been done by the District Project management Unit of PSDM from all Districts of Punjab.
“Both the courses have got a huge response of candidates and more sectors would be covered in online training so that more youth could get skilled sitting at their homes and be placed keeping in view post COVID-19 challenges in the employment sector, ” added Channi.
