No interference by Insurance Company in decision of treatment taken by treating doctor
Over 7.03 lakh cashless treatments worth Rs. 776.41 crores taken place in Punjab: Kumar Rahul

The Health & Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu today instructed all the empanelled private hospitals that the treatment or e-card of the entitled beneficiary of Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna shall not be stalled while he is admitted in the hospital. He said that in case of any anomalies in the e-card of the beneficiary, the same shall be corrected only after the treatment of the beneficiary patient, because the e-cards have been approved at the end of Insurance Company only. Insurance Company was asked to ensure that beneficiaries receive hassle free treatment under the Scheme.
The Health Minister expounded that Punjab Government had also provided the free treatment for Covid-19 to the entitled beneficiaries under the scheme in all the empanelled private hospitals. He said that training would be provided to private hospitals to expedite process of file the claim under the Covid-19 packages.
During the meeting, the Insurance Company was also instructed to immediately reimburse the pending claimed amount of the hospitals. In case of any technical issues arising due to bank code, IFSC/etc, the same should be corrected with the help of National Health Authority.
Mr. Sidhu also asserted that there should be no interference by the Insurance Company in the decision of treatment taken by the treating doctor in accordance with the clinical condition of the patients. He said that insurance company was directed to investigate the treatment cases properly so that the genuine cases get treated properly. The focus was laid on the better performance of the scheme so that no beneficiary patient is deprived of treatment under scheme.
The CEO-SHA Kumar Rahul informed the meeting that, since the launch of Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna, over 7.03 lakh cashless treatments worth Rs. 776.41 crores have been taken place in Punjab.
Notably, Ayushman Bharat-Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana, a flagship programme of the State was launched on 20th August 2019 with an objective of making quality healthcare accessible to the most vulnerable and deprived sections of state’s population. It is one of the largest State Government-funded schemes that cover around 39.57 lakh poor and vulnerable families for secondary and tertiary hospitalization.
The meeting was attended by Joint CEO, ACEO-State Health Agency, Dr. Kishore Paliwal Insurance company representative along with his team members and other officials of SHA.
