Patiala, April 2: Preneet Kaur, MP from Patiala unveiled the statue of the Baba Sahib Dr B R Ambedkar, installed at a cost of Rs. 9 lakh at the Municipal Corporation Office Park here. She was accompanied by Municipal Corporation Mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, Sweeper Union President Binny Sahota and other dignitaries.
Addressing a small gathering organiaed by the Sweeper Union and the Municipal Corporation, after dedicating the statue of Baba Sahib to the Patiala people, . Preneet Kaur said that Dr. B R Ambedkar drafted the constitution of the country and wrote the future of the people of India especially by safeguarding the interests of weaker sections.
She said that today though the whole country respects Baba Sahib but some parties were trying to tamper with the constitution drafted by him, for which it is our prime responsibility to protect and honor the the spirit of constitution. The MP specially thanked the municipal officials, employees and especially the sanitary workers for rendering their relentless services during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Welcoming the MP Mrs. Preneet Kaur, the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Mr. Sanjeev Sharma Bittu apprised her about the ongoing development works in the city and said that due to the efforts of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. He said that before going to the people in the next elections, we would complete all the promises and will proudly seek their votes on the basis of the performance shown by Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government.
Mr. Bittu said that long standing demand for installing a statue of Baba Sahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar has been fulfilled with the kind efforts of Mrs. Preneet Kaur and he expressed hope that following the path shown by the Dr Ambedkar, the development of the city will take another leap. Giving the credit to the sanitary workers, he said that we have got the rare honour of having very good waste disposal arrangements due to the hard work of the sanitary workers during the swachhta survey. He especially thanked the sanitary workers for working without fear of death in the COVID pandemic.
On this occasion, on behalf of the community, Deputy Mayor Mrs. Vinti Sangar and Mr. Sonu Sangar specially thanked the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and MP Mrs. Preneet Kaur. While Sweeper Union President, Binny Sahota also expressed gratitude to the MP Mrs. Preneet Kaur and the Mayor Mr. Sanjeev Sharma for taking care or their interests. Preneet Kaur was also felicitated by the union on the occasion.
