Patiala,February 16, 2021: Mrs. Preneet Kaur MP from Patiala today laid the foundation stone of the project covering 800 meters long Eastern Peripheral Drain at Ward No. 40 at a cost of about Rs. 3 crore. Mr. Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, Mayor of the Municipal Corporation was also present on the occasion.
Addressing a large gathering of locals, the Member of Parliament said that it was due to the support of the people that the Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government was carrying out development works in Punjab and Patiala on a war footing. The long pending development works have been given priority to complete within stipulated time. She said that she was happy that all the works in the city were being completed in phases to avoid the inconvenience to the residents.
Mrs. Preneet Kaur said that the Eastern Drain from Dhobghat falling in Ward No. 41 to Bhupindra International School Dakala Road was a source of trouble for the people of the area but now it would be cleaned and covered with CC Flooring. The people of more than half a dozen colonies will be directly benefited with the overcoming of problems of the stench and diseases.
Thanking the people for expressing their love and affection towards the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the MP said that as the people of Patiala had full faith in the government led by Captain Amarinder Singh, she is hopeful that the next government in Punjab would also be formed by the Congress party. She said that the Chief Minister during his previous tenure had not only kept his promise to cover the major sewers of Patiala city but also got them cleaned.
Mrs. Preneet Kaur said that now the government has not only covered the 2 km long drain from Kumar Sabha School to Kale Muhwali Bagichi but also sorted out the traffic problem of the city by constructing a new road on the covered drain. Assuring the people of the city, about no dearth of development funds, Preneet Kaur said that these works would be carried out and completed in time.
Assuring the Lok Sabha Member Mrs. Preneet Kaur of completion of development projects in a stipulated time, Mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu especially thanked the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for issuance of plenty of grants. Mr. Sharma said that Patiala, which was kept neglected during the previous government, is now on the path of development and it is a matter of great pleasure that the Captain Government has provided a grant of Rs. 500 crore to complete the ongoing development works of Patiala.
Apprising the MP Mrs Preneet Kaur of the details of the project launched today, Superintending Engineer of Drainage Department Davinder Singh, Executive Engineer Ramandeep Singh Bains said that the work would be completed before the onset of Monsoon season. Municipal Councilor Sandeep Malhotra of Ward No. 40 thanked the Chief Minister, Member Lok Sabha and Biba Jai Inder Kaur.
