Patiala, September 12:
Patiala MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli on Friday kick-started the construction of key city roads, to be built at a cost of ₹6 crore. The work began from Rajpura Colony near the Old Bus Stand.
The MLA said that roads dug up by L&T for laying pipelines under the 24×7 canal-based drinking water supply scheme would now be rebuilt on a war footing. “With the monsoon season now over, road repair and construction in the city will be completed at the earliest,” he said.
Kohli added that work on the stretch from Government Rajindra Hospital to the Badi Nadi bridge had started today, while internal road works across the city would begin next week.
Apologising to residents for the delay, he said the extended monsoon from June to September had held up the process. “Patiala residents faced inconvenience for a long time, but now the work is being taken up speedily. Departments have been directed to ensure quality in road construction,” he assured.
He also said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann was closely monitoring the city’s development works.
Among those present were SDM Harjot Kaur, Executive Engineer Vineet Singla, Ward 48 councillor Rajesh Kumar (Raju), Ward 49 councillor Sanjeev Kumar and local residents.
