CHANDIGARH, February 13: Ridiculing the false and baseless propaganda of the opposition parties against the government, Punjab Congress Committee President Sunil Jakhar today said that they had already conceded the defeat and were now trying to find an excuse. “They simply do not have any argument against the Congress party, which is fighting elections purely on the development plank”, Jakhar said in a statement here today.
Taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Jakhar said, it was not only a faceless party, but an issueless party as well. He said, a party which cannot produce a leader from Punjab and was outsourcing everything from Delhi, was known for leveling false allegations and then running away with unconditional apologies. “It won’t be surprising if the AAP issues an advertisement seeking application for the job of the Chief Minister as it does not have any leader of its own whom it could project as the CM”, he remarked.
The PCC President said, the three opposition parties, the Shiromani Akali Dal, the AAP and the BJP were competing with each for the second place as the Congress party, which was fighting on the issue of development was certain to sweep the elections across the state. He said, while the Akalis and BJP played divisive politics, the AAP was playing subversive politics and people had already understood their designs.
Taking a dig at the Akalis for crying wolf, Jakhar reminded them that in 2012 the Akalis had attacked the vehicle of Capt Amarinder Singh with swords and sharp edged weapons. He said, the Akali leaders had been using provocative language which led to people protesting against them in Jalalabad. He alleged that the Akalis had filed false complaints against the Congress leaders and workers.
On the BJP the Congress leader said, the party was reaping the whirlwind. He said, the party should blame itself for bringing three black laws that have provoked the farming community not only in Punjab but across the country. “Even in Haryana where the party is in power, their legislators cannot venture out of their homes”, he pointed out while asking the BJP leaders not to malign the Punjabis.
