School education minister appeals teachers to beware of rumours being spread by miscreants regarding transfers
School education department releases numbers of control room set up regarding transfers

Punjab school education minister Mr. Vijay Inder Sinla, on Monday, said that the state government has formulated Teachers’ Transfer Policy-2019 to ensure merit based, transparent and hassle free facility to the school teachers aspiring for transfers. The minister added that till date over 7,000 teachers had availed the benefit of the policy and now, their government has made comprehensive arrangements to implement the policy in its true spirit while conducting the online transfers this year.
While asking the teachers not to be misled by rumours, the cabinet minister said, “The process of transfers is going on and the applications are being verified by the DDOs/ school heads. The Department has issued clarifications regarding the frequently asked questions and set up ‘Transfer Helpline’ for the convenience of the teachers. The teachers aspiring for transfer can submit their grievances or clear their doubts by calling at Helpline Numbers: 82840-00767 ( Harpal Singh), 98151-71310( Gurinder Singh), 98889-17455( Sukhjinder Singh).”
Regarding visibility of vacant stations on the portal, Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that during the past few years, the government schools in Punjab had witnessed unprecedented increase in enrolment and the education department had constituted a committee, which in tandem with the directions of the finance department had prepared sanction of posts in the government schools in the state. The posts of teachers were granted or declared surplus as per the students’ strength in each school. Hence, the posts which have been declared surplus are not showing as vacant posts on the portal. Similarly, where the posts have been sanctioned as per the increased strength of students, the posts are being shown as vacant on the portal.
Mr. Singla said that the sanctioned posts of Middle schools have been shown as merged in the senior secondary school with which the middle school has been attached. The posts, going to be vacated up to March 31, 2021 due to retirement, have also been shown as vacant on the portal unless or until the same has not been declared as surplus. The posts of English teachers have been given to schools as per requirement and the aspiring teachers can apply for the transfers on portal against these posts also, further said the Education Minister, while adding that the applications for mutual transfers would be considered after the completion of the online transfers.
