Chandigarh, December 15 : The Punjab Government has released more than Rs. 2 crore 64 lakh to improve the sports infrastructure of 45 schools in the state so that the budding players in the schools could continue their practice in a better way.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the school education department said that Rs. 2,64,50,113 has been released for the repair of gymnasium halls of 45 schools in 10 districts following the directions of Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla.
According to the spokesperson Rs. 81,45,000 has been released for 6 schools of Amritsar district, Rs. 9,57,000 for two schools of Fazilka, Rs. 52,02,113 for 7 schools of Ferozepur, Rs.11,76,000 for 4 schools of Gurdaspur and Rs.17,50,000 for 3 schools of Hoshiarpur, Rs. 13,23,000 for 2 schools of Patiala, Rs. 13,70,000 for 3 schools of Pathankot, Rs. 43,50,000 for 8 schools of Tarn Taran, Rs. 7,77,000 for one school of Roop Nagar and Rs. 14,00,000 for 9 schools of Jalandhar district.
According to the spokesperson, the schools have been asked to form a five member committee to carry out the repair work of the gymnasiums in an orderly manner and to carry out the work in accordance with the prescribed rules. The spokesperson also said that the aim was to provide a conducive environment for the school players so that they could improve their performance in sports.
