• Orders to complete construction of Cancer Institute Amritsar on war footing
Chandigarh, June 17:
The Punjab Government has made all-out efforts to provide the best healthcare facilities to the populace. Under these initiatives, several new health institutes are being set up in the state. In order to attract Super Specialist Doctors for employment in these institutes, the Medical Education and Research Minister Mr. Om Prakash Soni today directed the authorities to prepare and submit a proposal to salaries enhancement of Super Specialist Doctors so that these Doctors will be attracted to work for the state.
Mr. Soni was conducting a monthly evaluation of the construction of the new health institutions being set up in the state by the Medical Education Department here today. During the meeting,Principal Secretary Medical Education and Research Mr. D.K. Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Dr. Raj Bahadur, Dr Sujata Sharma, Director, Principal of Government Medical College Amritsar Mrs. Sujata Sharma and other officials of Punjab Health System Corporation were also present.
However reviewing the progress of construction work of State Institute for Cancer Research, Amritsar and Patiala, Mr. Soni directed the authorities that these works be completed on war footing so that they could be dedicated to the people as soon as possible.
During the meeting Principal Secretary Mr. D K Tiwari informed that the recruitment process for the State Institute for Cancer has been started under which advertisements have been issued for filling up the posts of 39 Assistant Professors, 38 Associate Professors and 28 Professors. The process will be completed in the next two months. Mr. Tiwari assured the Minister for Medical Education and Research that this project costing Rs. 120 crore would be completed by October 31, 2021.
