The Deputy Chief Minister O.P. Soni today directed ramping up the testing and vaccination in the State considering the possibility of third wave of Covid-19.
Presiding over a meeting of the Health Department, the Deputy Chief Minister took stock of the prevailing situation pertaining to the cases. The officers apprised that at present the positive result rate of testing related to Corona cases stands at 0.3 percent which has increased a bit during the past few days. Till now, the State has seen only a single case of omicron which was asymptomatic and was found negative after 13 days.
The Principal Secretary Raj Kamal Chaudhary said that the Punjab Government has approached 12,05069 households under the Ghar Ghar Dastak campaign keeping in view the possible third wave. Earlier, as many as 84 percent people have been administered the first dose while the percentage of those having got the second jab stands at 44. He also divulged that in preparation for the possible third wave, 7840 beds of L1 and L2 while 977 beds of L3 category have been readied. Apart from this, oxygen plants have been installed at approximately 70 health institutions which have also been tested successfully.
