Punjab Congress holds protest at Shambhu border to support farmers agitation
Shambhu Border, December 14-President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Sunil Jakhar today said that since now the BJP led government at centre has agreed that three agriculture bills have many flaws so it should scrap the bills with immediate effect.
Addressing a massive protest rally at the Shambhu barrier today, the President of Punjab Congress said that instead of making amendments the Union government must roll back these bills without any further delay. He said that centre should reinstate the rights of the state and as per the provisions of constitution allow the states to enact the laws on the subjects in State list. Jakhar said that upholding the basic spirit of the constitution, without any violation with it, was the need of hour.
The President of Punjab Congress said that in reality the Union government was adamant to implement the laws for benefitting the corporate houses. He said that already the rights of states have been squeezed by centre due to monopolistic GST regime. Jakhar said that the permanent solution for agrarian crisis was easy if centre agrees to guarantee MSP to farmers and empower states to formulate laws on agriculture.
The President of Punjab Congress said that the Congress party takes pride in the fact that ignited the fervor to unite the people in this crusade against the anti farmers bill. He slammed the union government for labelling the protesting farmers as ‘Tukde tukde’ gang.Jakhar said that those issuing such statements must remember that we were inheritors Sri Guru Teg Bahadur ji, who had sacrificed his life for country and religion adding that today Punjabis were fighting war of farmers and poor people of the entire country.
The President of Punjab Congress said that in reality BJP was full of hatred for Punjabis due to which Punjab was being targeted. He said the idea behind implementing the black laws was to economically ruin the farmers of Punjab by denying MSP to them. Mr Jakhar said that as no one could become soldier merely by wearing olive green dress in the same wear no one could become farmer by posing with crops after landing from helicopter in elections.
The President of Punjab Congress said that farmers were sitting at borders of Delhi and soldiers were safeguarding the borders but the BJP leaders were hell bent upon selling the country to corporates. Training his guns Akali leadership, he said that though Akali Dal was celebrating its 100th year of formation but due to their misdeeds its leadership was not able to celebrate it by going to people. Mr Jakhar said that Akalis were hand in glove with BJP for enacting and implementing these laws but now they were doing tantrums of sacrifice adding that on the other hand the AAP government has already implemented the bills in Delhi. He said that wise people of Punjab understand hypocrisy of these parties and they would certainly teach them a lesson.
Speaking on the occasion, Incharge of Punjab Congress Harish Rawat said that Congress party would ever flag the issues of farmers. He said that we were proud that we were standing with farmers adding that those people who won on name of farmers have backstabbed them by getting these bills implemented by conniving with BJP. Rawat said that Rahul Gandhi had opposed these bills from day one.
